 Herbert Benson of the Harvard Medical School and Founder of the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine has described the profound effects of the mind on the body and health essentially in this way:

The meditation component of Qigong is an example of a "psychological process" that affects physical health and well-being. The moving meditation of Qigong lowers stress, strengthens the immune system, reduces chronic inflammation, and improves cellular metabolism and aging.

Qigong can be considered a "mind-body" practice or "mind-body medicine".
